April 4: Dyeing with plants Using a Winter-Spring Palette

Beginner Class
The morning will introduce the class and talk about protein and cellulose as well as mordants. We will also talk about plants to dye with: types, ethics, harvesting and growing a dye garden.
In the afternoon, we will set up dye pots and experiment with different plants and some instant indigo.
Cost: $72 per person plus $35 for supplies
All wool provided is raised on the farm and is 100% natural.
Each student will take home some dyed fabric and at least 150 yards of dyed wool. Student can choose to purchase more wool to dye for future use.
April 5: Creating a Toolbox of Felting Techniques; Introduction to Nuno Felting
9:30am to 4:00pm
Beginner Class
In the morning, we’ll talk about different kinds of wool for felting, using a fleece as live material. We will learn techniques to create flat, hollow and solid forms using different methods to get there.
In the afternoon, we will create something using pre-dyed fleece, mixing colors and layering.
Cost: $72 per person plus $40 for supplies
All wool provided is raised on the farm and is 100% natural.
Each student will take home a finished product. Student will receive roving and silk to create their product.
