I love these cold white winter days, with no snow! My youngest son and I drive down the hill in the morning catching the first light of the promising sun. My winter routine at the barn is soothing, there is so much comfort in the mundane tasks of mucking, putting down fresh hay, watering the animals, feeding the chickens, checking on the garden, getting wood for the day, starting the fire and feeding it, planning the ins and outs of the day around the life of the fire….
